How GYP-GRIP Compares.
GYP-GRIP was designed around two common limitations of existing insulation fasteners.
Existing Options
Two widely used alternatives, the Hilti X-IE-G 6 and the Ramset InsulFast T4, are installed with gas-actuated tools, and neither is listed for drywall sheathing. GYP-GRIP was designed to install with a cordless drill and to offer a variant for drywall sheathing.
Hilti X-IE-G 6
Installed with the GX-IE gas-actuated nailer, sold separately. Listed for concrete base materials.
Ramset InsulFast T4
Installed with the Ramset T4 gas tool. Listed for concrete, masonry and steel studs.
Stick pins
Installed by impact. Pins that pass through the insulation can create a path for heat loss and may loosen over time.
Standard screws with washers
Usually need a stud to be located through the insulation, which takes time and can lead to missed fixings.
Traditional extension sleeves
Without a milling tip, a sleeve can push foam ahead of it rather than cutting through, which may break out the back face.
Installs with a Cordless Drill
The Hilti and Ramset systems use dedicated gas-actuated tools. GYP-GRIP installs with a standard cordless drill: the head has a T40 Torx socket, and each box includes an 8" T40 bit. The three-step install walks through it.
A Variant for Drywall Sheathing
According to their published product information, the Hilti X-IE-G 6 is intended for concrete and the Ramset InsulFast T4 for concrete and steel. GYP-GRIP Drywall is designed to fasten insulation directly into gypsum sheathing, which is common on commercial projects.

Patent & Innovation
ACME Milling Tip
Designed to cut a clean hole through the foam as the fastener drives in
Captive Embedded Screw
The metal fastener is over-molded into the plastic sleeve as a one-piece unit; no separate hardware
Thermal-Break Cap
Snap-on cap covers the open end of the sleeve to help reduce thermal bridging through the fastener
Materials
GYP-GRIP is molded from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a durable, weather- resistant plastic widely used in construction products. The embedded screws are sourced from Lealand Industries.
